Out Of This World By Aiman Azlan (The Other Side Of The Coin)

The Shahadah is when we bear witness that there is none worthy of worship other than the One True God (Allah), and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad PBUH is His Final Messenger.

We Are All Slaves

Worship is not limited to actions done in the mosques, the churches, the synagogues, and the like. Worship is to ultimately obey something or someone. Anything or anyone that we ultimately obey is the object of our worship and , in the essence, our master - the one who dictates who we are and how we are.

The bitter truth is this; slavery is inevitable. We all have our master whom we willingly or unwillingy, obey. Some of us obey things (e.g. money), some obey other people (e.g. fashion), some obey nature (e.g. sciene), and some obey ideologies (e.g. capitalism).

Some might obejct to the whole idea of inevitable slavery, or just slavery for that matter. They claim that they are absolutely free because they do as they please, but in reality, they are still slaves. They are slaves of their won ego.

"Have you seen he who has taken as his god, his (own) desire...?"

(Surah Al-Jathiyah: 23)

Free to Choose

We are all slaves of something or someone. However, though slavery is inevitable, we are free to choose our master. we choose to obey whoever or whatever it is that we choose to obey, and if we choose our master correctly, then we can be truly free.

Muslims (linguistically means "the submitters") choose the One True God (Allah) as their ultimate master. They choose to obey not the created, but the Creator.

By taking none of this world as their master, they are free from the shackles of this world. They are even free from their own ego. By not being slaves of this world, they walk on its soil and under its sky as free people.

Their obedience is literally out of this world.
